THE DIARIES : THE DANCE

I got a call from my sister.  She was getting married in a few months and wanted someone to play music at her ceremony.  My first thought was “no way” until I realized how set she was on the idea and she wouldn’t have asked if it wasn’t important to her.

The problem was I didn’t know how to play any other songs than the ones I’ve written.  I was at work, so I told her we would talk more about it later and we ended the call.

Right away I turned to a co-worker who recently got married and asked what she did for music at her wedding.  She said, “A friend of mine wrote a song for us.”

I never wrote a song for someone.  The songs I did get came when they wanted to.  I thought about the songs I’ve written…and NONE of them were happy go lucky type songs let alone anything remotely close to wedding material.

“Great.  Well, if I’m supposed to do this God needs to give me a song.”

As I said that I was being a little sarcastic.  But as soon as I walked away there it was…the first line with a tune and everything in my head.  As I grabbed a piece of paper to write it down…out it came.

This song is different than my other ones.  Lighter, in a way.  It takes on its own interpretation of our relationship with God and the fine line between watching God do his thing or actually trusting enough to be a part of God doing everything he wants through you.

Don’t hear me wrong…God will work through people whenever he wants.  However, there is something different when you are willing to enter in ENTIRELY.  This is where the promise is….the magic.

The wedding.
